I've gone back to drawing again. Drawing doujinshi has been taking up a lot of my time so that's going to be on hold or now. I need a new project to work on. Hopefully I will be creating a steady stream of drawings so my viewers can enjoy more stuff. Recently I've gotten back into Akagi and my head simply exploded with a bunch of ideas for fan art. There's just so much stuff that I can do with just one character. One of the things I really enjoyed doing was creating crossovers. I've seen a Fukumoto x JoJo crossover and a Fukumoto x Persona 4 crossover, but I think there can be more in that universe. Maybe my work can add to the fandom, I don't know. There's one crossover that I've been dying to create, Fukumoto x 13 Assassins. I think there are so many characters in the Fukumoto universe that carry some aspect of kickass in their nature. With 13 Assassins being a film about samurai, I would like to imagine 13 select characters as hack and slash masters. Of course, I would like to recreate some of the previous roles to change the nature of the story. While the 2010 film has a very sombre color palette, I envision my version of the crossover to be more vibrant in design and still carry the same air of ferocity. I have the cast of the 13 assassins thought out though I might switch out certain characters last minute. Even though it counts as cheating, I have the 3 different Akagis included in the cast. Though virtually the same person, they still carry a different side of Akagi.
It looks like I'll be doing intensive sketches and concept design just for one little crossover. But that's how artwork should, right? It may be one piece of work that people just glance over, but behind it is a hell lot of work and dedication. In the end, it feels extremely satisfying to the artist, not the viewer. I even thought about including a backstory behind this crossover. Almost like a serious parody instead of a funny one like I usually do. I encourage people to use tumblr and pixiv in addition to deviantart as platforms for art. That's how I got more ideas to draw. In the future, you might see more JoJo fan art as well. I thought about doing a Lord of the Rings crossover due to my recent marathon over the film trilogy. It sounds extremely bizarre right now, but I need something to occupy my time.
